Deer Park High School’s Patriot Club recently packed and mailed eight care packages to three former Deer Park students and current U.S. service members: Justin Gallo and George Tirado in Afghanistan and Jonathan Trautwig in Iraq.
The packages included five cases of Girl Scouts cookies sold by Robert Frost Middle School student Kaitlyn Incandela, who asked her customers to donate for the Patriot Club on behalf of the former students who are currently deployed overseas. According to Patriot Club adviser Laurie Osbern, at the request of Tirado, the club also used some of its monetary donations to purchase dodgeballs for morale-building recreation time for the soldiers.
